Do you know the structured way to make improvements?

by KII

Improve or Perish! Is the mantra for success and if you don’t improve you are bound to fail or perish. The current global crisis have affected many organizations as the demand for goods & services has gone down. The falling demand from European & China market has forced many organizations to shut down or relook at their processes.

Surviving merely is not enough, staying ahead will help you succeed. And to stay ahead, it is very important that you improve continuously. Will Rogers famously commented, “Even if you are on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” Therefore just running an efficient organization is not enough, you have to deliver high-quality products and services at reasonable prices to succeed. The mantra is On Time, In Full & Error Free (OTIFEF). It is very important to move from Problems to Solutions and this is a journey and not a destination or project. It is a process. It is a pathway to improvements and mastering the improvement process is a life-long gift. Improvement can be learnt, but do remember it never ends and that is the true KAIZEN™ spirit. Learning is a life-long process and this is what helps to keep the employees up-to-date with latest developments & improving their efficiency, as they learn to use newer methods, practices, tools & techniques and better ways to function. Now it is upto the management to create an environment that promotes learning & mastering the art of making & sustaining improvements, improvements for the betterment of the organization.

A set of useful steps to start & implement KAIZEN™ are:

Think, rethink and attempt Kaizen, with 100 per cent clarity and understanding;
Collect all relevant data (do current state analysis), analyze and think of a solution thereafter;
Use only appropriate tools (not all available tools) while implementing
